Waste not, my friends! Cooking for one is here.

My name is Ashley and I am a foodie.

I'm a mid-twenties "single" who is sick and tired of wasting money and food trying to cook a meal for one person. I started this blog because I felt as though there needed to be some kind of cooking movement that catered to meals for one. After all, more than 50% of the populate is "single" (aka living by themselves).

I started to grow a passion for cooking as soon as I set out for college back in 2003. I was living on my own and, of course, needed to learn how to feed myself pronto. After many kitchen disasters, burnt dishes and experiments gone wrong, I fell into a pattern of cooking success. Since that time, my skills and personal recipe book have grown significantly.

My favorite dishes to cook are seasonal soups, ethnic dishes like curries, and anything considered comfort food.  I am working to broaden my recipe book by adding vegetarian and gluten free dishes. I am always looking for new ideas,  tips and recipes.

Most single people argue that it is too hard to cook for just one person, therefore eating out, ordering in or surviving on frozen meals is the only way to stay fed and not waste food. I am looking to disprove that theory by providing recipes on the site that are not only for single people, but use ingredients that you can use in other dishes during the week (ones that can be refrigerated or stored).

My other hobbies include photography, small business consulting (social media and marketing services), auto cross racing, eating out and dancing. You can visit my website by clicking here. Thanks for stopping by my site. I hope that you take something valuable away from it! Please post your recipes too if you modify one of mine. I love new ideas!

Happy Eats!
